Packing tips and advice

Things you will need

  • A good supply of strong boxes
  • Parcel tape
  • Masking tape
  • Marking pens
  • Packing paper
  • Bubble wrap for fragile items

All of the items above are available in our 'Summer 2010' Special Offer!

Packing Boxes

Do not over load boxes with heavy object and always ensure any gaps are filled with screwed up paper or bubble wrap. This will avoid any damage during transit.

Once the box is correctly packed, label it with the marker pen so that unpacking your belongings will be made easier.

When packing dishes and glass items wrap each one individually with bubble wrap or packing tissue and cushion them in the box with plenty of crumpled paper or bubble wrap.

Try to keep the weight of the box under 15 kilograms for safe transportation and handling.

Furniture

Make sure any items with doors are taped shut and make sure any fridges and freezers are completely empty especially if they are going into storage.

Clothing and Fabrics

Any clothing that hangs in a wardrobe should be packing in a wardrobe carton. If any clothing, linen or curtains will be going into storage then you should ensure they are completely dry.

Remember: Always plan your packing and leave yourself plenty of time. Carefully planned packing will avoid breakages and will make the unpacking process a lot easier.
